Having travelled to the maldives in March and spending a fortune we had a cheap summer holiday in samos bay. (It was cheaper than self catering). The hotel was very clean and the staff couldn't do enough for us. The food was nice but limited in choice. The pool was being refurbished but the beach is so near and the sea is as clear as the maldives so no problem. There are immigrants in the afternoon but they aren't allowed to the tourist part of the beach. They don't bother you at all. Ollie who looks after the beach and brings drinks etc does a great job. Car hire is very cheap and the island is beautiful so well worth a drive round. Its not the best hotel but if you want luxury pay for the maldives. As for me I loved it here... ++
